Boo!
I’m moving…
My friend, Adam D (from i3network.net) and I will be moving my blog to Media Temple.
While we’re moving the site may not be able to be accessed.
PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE
Hi everyone
So I am sure that you guys have thought WTF when visiting my blog. I’ve added posts that aren’t going through! Very annoying. I’ve narrowed the issue down to being the host. I really do not like Automattic and would not recommend them to anybody. I am in the process of moving everything to Media Temple. I will be updating the theme, and also adding a few quirky things
Hopefully whenever I add pictures, the quality and size adjust automatically. It is so annoying not having the ability to do that. I also want to fix my Flickr widget which has been broken since I opened my account – no matter how many times I’ve adjusted settings.
At the moment, I’m having a few issues transferring domains (Automattic are being totally rude & making the process extremely difficult) as well as getting WordPress to move my account settings. I’ll have to email them once the domain transfer has successfully happened. Looking forward to having a new blog theme!
I’ll continue trying to add posts here and eventually when they don’t work anymore you’ll figure that the hosting service is moving. Things will be rocky for the next 10 days but once everything’s done I’ll let you all know
Thanks for being awesome & patient!
Carl

If you do happen to see this – This site is having a revamp (if you haven’t already read the post before this one) and is a little broken at the moment. It will be back up soon

SNOW LEOPARD
Hey readers! Glad you’ve taken the time to read my post! So sorry that I’ve left my blog to rot for a bit.. Just been busy!!
Tiger: 2005, Leopard: 2007, Snow Leopard: 2009.
I love Apple and am a die hard fan! When they release something, my wallet wants to shrivel like a dumpling. But, I really don’t care what the wallet wants
Basically it was available for Pre-Order on Monday night (the night before my birthday) so naturally I jumped and bought the family pack!! Cut a long story short, yesterday came. Delivery day. My copy was on the truck and I waited for it to arrive. I waited and waited. Then I got shitty so I called TNT. Turns out that they brought it back to the depot because the driver’s shift was over. I was extremely pissed off with TNT because this is the 3rd time that it’s actually happened. I highly recommend FedEx. I love them. I’ve imported several Macbook’s for myself and family using that shipping service. Never any issues.. Anyway, I called a friend – Adam who works at an Apple Re-seller and he brought me a single user copy. The copy that will arrive on Monday I’ll likely just sell it on Ebay.
Because I’m such a die hard fan I hopped on the train to go home and I installed it. Snow Leopard’s installer is very weird. All other OSX installations have been very very simple. I did not clean instal, instead I just archived & installed. My Macbook Pro was a mess so I pretty much copied over all of my files to en external drive and re-installed 10.6, this time clean installing. The clean install option was a little hard to find but I eventually figured out how to erase the contents on the HD. I used Disk Utility when I installed the OSX disk. Basically I restated the computer holding the ‘C’ key. I waited for the installer to open up. It did and I found that there was an option to open disk utility. I opened it, selected my Mac partition, erased it, then closed disk utility and ran the installation wizard normally. Everything was smooth! I was disappointed when it came to the end of the installation because the Snow Leopard introduction video was the same as the Leopard intro video. I’m guessing Steve needed to cut back on video costs. Stupid recession *Shakes Fist*
I found no bugs after the re-installation apart from stupid Mail v4. I hate it. I really want v3 back until it starts reading the emails that I placed in OSX’s library folder from when I had leopard on my Mac..
Apart from that little annoying little stupid bug everything is cool! I love leopard. It is well worth the upgrade!!

ITWEETREPLY PUSH NOTIFICATION IPHONE TWITTER CLIENT OFFICIAL REVIEWYo1
It’s finally here! An App that pushes our tweets from the busy Twitter servers to our sexy, sleek iPhone’s! Check out the review for some exclusive information regarding future versions, and a small interview with one of the developers – Matthew Roberts.
User Interface
We all know and love the iPhones User Interface. It’s smooth touch screen, it’s fantastic accelerometer and it’s damn awesome pinch feature! iTweetreply has taken advantage of nearly all those features and many more introduced in OS 3.0. iTweetreply feautures a sleek and simple UI that any body can operate! It’s plain colours make it easy to see in all shades of light and the 3 tabs on the bottom make it extemelly easy to toggle between your ‘Direct Messages’, your ‘@ replies’ and of course your friends public tweets. iTweetreply has made it easy to update tweets while still reading the older ones by adding the refresh button on the top of the screen. This is one of the options in which Tweetie lacks. Yes, it is a small but valuable point to note!
When your typing away at your desk or reading a book on the beach you will hear the sweat sound of ITR (iTweetreply) notifying you of any new @replies or DM’s you have. If your iPhone was sleeping at the time the notification sounded the tweet will remain on the screen, as if it were a txt message. The push message is displayed as if it were a txt message which is very handy for Australians and all other countries who currently do not have txt tweets enabled. This is the #1 reason I downloaded iTweetReply. When you ‘Slide to Reply’ to the pushed tweet iTweetReply launches (Only takes 3 seconds on the iPhone 3GS) and you are greeted with the list of tweets. To reply, simply tap the tweet and you are given the option to either a) @ reply of b) Direct Message the sender.
Obviously, like all first releases of applications (iPhone or not) there are many features lacking. This applies to ITR but we will look at those later. .
Pro’s of iTweetreply
iTweetreply, as stated above is an amazing app. It does the one thing many of the common iPhone apps don’t. This is push the tweets from Twitter over to you!
- Push Tweets over the cloud & to your iPhone
- Sleek user Interface
- Easy to operate, even my grandmother could use it!
- Customization abilites
- Convenient buttons
One of the things that I am extremely excited about is this: The Ability to use the iTR push notifications with other Twitter platforms on iPhone. The only reason you’d use this, is if another Twitter app has grown on you! Otherwise, with further revisions iTR is going to be one hot ass app!
Cons/New features we’d like to see in iTweetReply
Like all Applications built for all platforms (Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows, Palm Pre) this application does have a bug (I’ve only found 1), but it does lack some feautures which WILL be in the next 3 revisions of iTR.
- Bug: Numerous alert sounds after only 1-2 minutes
- Improvement: Yes, the User interface is beautiful but some more color would be nice (This is coming)
- Improvement: Load more than 27 tweets at a time! With Tweetie I’m loading 100 at a time, because I have so many too read
- Improvement: Not a biggie, but customizable alert tones
- Improvement: Ability to read peoples profile’s & Tweets (Big big one, that must come) & Follow them
Le Interview with Matthew Roberts
As we’ve established iTweet reply is an awesome app that runs very very well on iPhone. Now, there’s certainly a story behind every app built!
How long did it Take to Plan & Develop iTweetReply? It took 2 weeks to plan iTweetReply, but the develpment took us about 3-4 months as push is very hard to implement!
What tools did/do you use to learn to develop for the iPhone platform? We used iPhone 3G’s to test our apps on, but I learnt C++/C when I was 12. I started developing for the iPhone in July 2008. One book I certainly recommend is ’iPhone Dev Cookbook’ By Erica Sadun.
So, is it REALLY hard to develop for the iPhone & learning how to code in C & Objective C? It Is. but if you put in the time and effort, it can be quite easy! The earlier you learn, the easier it is.
What’s the story behind the iTweetReply iPhone App? Well Matt Lesh started the iTweetReply email service, and I looked at it as the perfect entrance for an iPhone app with Push!
Final Words
We look forward to future versions of iTweetReply, with version 1.1 submitted to Apple on Friday we should see it in our App store within the next few days! If you’re a current iTweetReply user, It’s a highly recommended upgrade! Well done to Matthew Roberts & Matther Lesh for developing such a fantastic app!

MICHAEL JACKSON DIEING, END OF POP?
His death certainly ruined my day, and countless others. While lining up for my iPhone at 7am I heard the devostating news of MJ dieing.. I thought who’s MJ (Blonde moment).. After googling I found out what had happened to Michael Jackson. I tried putting it to the back of my mind as I knew I’d have a bad day if I thought about it.. Then I came home and it got my thinking. I thought about all of the accusations made against him. I thought about the Jackson 5. I thought about his song Man in the Mirror… After speaking to my mum about her memories of the famous Jackson I decided to read his autobiography. I could not find it, so I turned to Wikipedia. Alot of people predict Wikipedia’s information to be inaccurate but I find it most useful!
All of this new information was rushing into my mind. I heard and understood the term ‘moon walk’, I learnt about Lisa Presley, I even read about his relationship with his father. Some of the things shocked me, and I couldn’t help but think after watching several music videos.. Is this the end of the 80′s Pop? Has it finished? Will it ever be brought back into ‘fashion’? I continued reading his wikipedia page and saw that he knew he was going to die (Like everyone, duh) so to set his children up for life he recorded 100 songs in his library which have yet to be published! I was happy to read this as I knew his life was nowhere near over, and I was also happy to find that his children would still be able to live the life they were brought up around.
I felt kind of depressed after finding out the cause of death, but I thought, this is only One chapter of Michael Jacksons life. This is his first book published. This is the old testimate in his bible.. The new testimate.. Well.. That all has to do with thse new 100 songs and the life of his children. Will they be the new ‘Jackson 5′? Will they have their fathers talents? I am now looking at this day as a celebration. A sad celebration, yes. But it is a day which will go down in history.

STEVE JOBS SECRETLY HAD LIVER TRANSPLANT
Hi Readers
As I’m sure you know, if you follow me on Twitter that I love Apple, Steve Jobs and everything else that says ‘Designed by Apple in California’. Today while doing the normal twitter feed read, I came across a post from a friend who posted a link to a news website stating that my hero Steve Jobs had a liver transplant. This was devastating for me, as I thought his sickness was only minor. I suppose he didn’t come out in the open about having the transplant because there obviously is a chance of dead, so Apple stocks would have gone rocketing down, as well as the massive media attention! Steve Jobs had cancer in 2004. He miraculously survived, and has since built up the company he and co-founder Steve Wozniak founded in the ’70′s.. Apple. Here is a link to the story I initially read about Steve Jobs transplant.. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124546193182433491.html
